Those who suffer from psoriasis probably constitute that group of patients who more than any other out of sheer frustration and exasperation will try alternative methodes of treatment different from what orthodox medicine can prescribe.
Repeatedly advertisements promise these p eople the moon and stars. Yet, when it comes to fulfilling these promises they will not stand the test, and the patients are faced with yet anot her disappointment with the accompanying frustrations and mental as well as economic problems.
Acupuncture is not a miracle treatment, which can promise improvement and cure in each and every case. But it can definitely help even some stubborn and aggrevated cases and many more ordinary ones.
During my ne arly twenty years as a practising physician I have always felt greatly frustrated at how little orthodox medicine had to offer the psoriasis patient and how poor results of these treatment turned out to be. When about 12-13 years ago I began to study acupuncture it naturally immediately suggested itself, that I should take up the research in psoriasis with special, interest. That led me to Bulgaria. Here I arrived some time in 1989 at the University Clinic in Sofia, where for many years work on acupuncture against skin diseases has been going on. And here I settled down to learn more.
I found that these people produced nice results, but not sufficiently good for me. On my return to Denmark I threw myself into a research programme of my own invention, and now with even greater interest.
