The mechanism of the side reactions in the benzene hydrogenation reaction has bcen studied further. The result is as follows; n-hexane, which is produced by hydrogenation of cyclohexarie, undergoes further hydrogenation to produce n-pentane, n-butane, propane, ethane, and methane successively. The mechanisms of these successive reactions have all been found to be similar , to that of the main reaction. From the data obtained through integral-type reactor experimehts starting with cyclohexane, the apphrent reaction rate constants for the individual steps have beeri determined by use of a nonlinear least squares method. The concentrations of products at the reactor outlet calculated from the resulting rate constants agreed well with the observed ones.

In this paper a new air-tight test for pressure vessel is proposed、 It is based on the theory of the optimal prediction. We desigll some models, one is a“no-leak”model and the others are “leak”models. Each Kalman filter of these models produces filter innovations from outputs of a pressure sensor and the multiple hypothesis detectlon calculates probabilities of each modeL We select one suitable model using these probabilities.Experimellting this,it was found that this new test was useful and superior in accuracy and noise.
