In this paper, how additives of a PVC attachment plug affect its thermal degradation is studied experimentally from chemical an〔i electrical vie~v pQints. It was revealed that among usual additives of a PVC attachment plug, calcium carbonate only shows decrease of illsulation resistance when the plug degradates thermally. It comes from water and chlorine ion detected in the PVC plug after degradated. In temperature range of this study, reaction rate of PVC dehydrochlorination increases monotonously with increase of temperature,From experimental data, activation energy of the reaction was estimated as ca.38kJ/moL
