Based on the proposal of quantitative evaluation method on the local corrosion by effective far─side MFLT (Magnetic Flux Leakage Technique) for the inspection on the bottom plate of oil tank, the internal magnetic field and the flaw leakage magnetic field around the steel plate were analyzed by using the finite element method. As a result, the inspection system has been designed. Moreover, Discrete Wavelet Analysis method, which could be used in accurately extracting the signals arisen only from flaws due to its irrelevance with the positions of original signals, was proposed in this research to improve the detectability of corrosive flaws. It was confirmed that the evaluate the back side corrosive flaws by the proposed signal processing was successfully applied to experiment on a large steel plate such as the bottom plate of oil tank.
