Glycopeptide was isolated from tryptic digest of the liver of rats fed with hepatic carcinogen, 3'-methyl-4-dimethylaminoazobenzene (3'-methyl-DAB), for 3-35 weeks. Analyses were carried out by the measurements of hexose, sialic acid and hexosamine as well as cellulose acetate strip electrophoresis, followed by staining with alcian blue.
The results have been discussed and summarized as follows.
    1. The hexose, sialic acid and hexosamine contents all rose in the first 5-7 weeks of feeding with 3'-methyl-DAB, falling once to a low level and rose again after 24 weeks of feeding with hepatic carcinogen, especially in the cancer tissue during 24-35 weeks.
    2. The relative proportion of the glycopeptide fraction on cellulose acetate strip electrophoresis also showed similar alterations with weeks of feeding with azo dye as observed before.

In this report, the immunochemical properties of LDH-bound immunoglobulins in nine cases (five cases bore the complexes with IgA (K), two with IgG (L), one with IgG (K) obtained from pleural effusion ano one with IgA-IgG mixture) are described.
Specific binding to LDH-2 and LDH-3 was found in the case of IgA (K) type and that to LDH-4 and LDH-5 in IgG (L) type.
Furthermore, LDH-1, LDH-4 and LDH-5 were found in IgG (K) pleural effusion case and all LDH isozymes in IgA-IgG mixture case.
Immunoglobulins were separated from each insolubilized LDH isozyme using sepharose 4B activated by cyanogen bromide.
The immunoglobulin obtained from insolubilized LDH-2 reacted with both LDH-2 and LDH-3 by thin layer gel filtration. Likewise, that from insolubilized LDH-5 was found to react with both LDH-1 and LDH-5.
Therefore, in the present cases, it may be considered that there are a common antigenetic site in LDH-2 and LDH-3 molecules and also another common antigenetic site in LDH-1 and LDH-5.

Serum proteinase inhibitors such as C1S-inhibitor (C1S-INH), α1-antitrypsin (α1-AT), antithrombin III (AT-III) and α2-macroglobulin (α2-M) were measured in 156 patients with malignant tumors of various organs.
    Results;
    1. Generalized findings in all patients examined: C1S-INH and α1-AT increased and AT-III decreased as the stage of tumors progressed. A significant increase of α2-M was found exclusively in the male patients, but changes became unremarkable following the progression of illness.
    2. Changes in each patient group with tumors of different organs: (a) α2-M significantly increased also in the female patients in advanced stage of cancer of the lungs. (b) AT-III rather increased in cancer of the cervix uteri. (c) α2-M significantly increased even in earlier stage of cancer of the urinary bladder. (d) AT-III remarkably decreased in cancer of the prostate.
These changes of serum proteinase inhibitors are assumed to contribute beneficial environment for the growth of tumors.

Bovine fetal serum was investigated by cellulose acetate electrophoresis, immunoelectrophoresis, immunodiffusion and single radial immunodiffusion.
A continuous increase of the total serum proteins was observed, it reached 4.2g/dl at birth.
Significant changes of serum proteins were observed, especially α-glob, by cellulose acetate electrophoresis in the course of gestation age.
Twelve precipitation lines were always observed in the fetal serum by immunoelectrophoresis, seven of 12 lines were identified.
Serum transferrin and α2-macroglobulin were also studied.
IgG was detected from 6 (16%) of 37 fetal sera. IgG1 was the predominant immunoglobulin in the sera of IgG detected samples.

A technique of two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis for the separation of plasma proteins was described in detail. Human plasma proteins were separated by isoelectric focusing followed by electrophoresis in a 4 to 21% or a 4 to 30% linear gradient slab gel. Urea or SDS was not used throughout the procedure, so that the analyses of proteins in their biologically active state were possible. By this technique, human plasma protein was resolved into more than 250 spots.
