Crystalls of arginase were obtained from beef liver according to the procedure of Bach, and its specific activities were meaured.
The formation of enzyme-substrate complex between arginase and arginine was proved by the method of “crossing paper electrophoresis”.
Even when the arginase was inactivated by the removal of Mn
++ ion, it was also proved that the inactivated arginase combined with the substrate as in the case of active enzyme.
The competitive inhibitors of arginase, ornithine and lysine, also formed the complex with the engyme.
