3-Iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate (IPBC),
p-chlorophenyl-3-iodopropargylformyl (CPIP), and 1-bromo-3-ethoxycarbonyloxy-1, 2-diiodo-1-propene (BECDIP) have been used as fungicide and bactericide for household products. These three compounds were evaluated for contact allergenicity by guinea pig maximization test. For IPBC, CPIP and BECDIP, minimum induction doses by intradermal injection were 5ppm, 5ppm and 50ppm, respectively, while minimum elicitation doses by topical application were 100ppm, 50ppm and 100ppm, respectively. All three compounds contain similar alkyl halogen structures and exhibited cross-sensitization with two other compounds.
