There is a possibility that the waste textiles can be recycled as fibre reinforcement for new plastic products with effective colour by separating into the groups based on colour. In this case, the colour of separated textile should be kept after molding the products. Therefore, in this paper, we discussed the effect of molding conditions such as content of fibre reinforcement and molding temperature on colour of molded products by extruding molding method. Cotton and polypropylene were used as fibre reinforcement and matrix, respectively. As a result, the lightness (L*) of the surface colour of product changed greatly according to the content of fibre. Also it is clear that the value of L* of products is approaching to the value of L* of fibre reinforcement with the increasing of the content of fibre. The findings of this study can indicate that there is a clear relationship between the lightness of the surface colour of product and the lightness of fibre reinforcement. It is concluded here that the separation of waste textile based on colour is effective for the extruding molding products which requires the favorable colour.
