This report describes a water-saving toilet that uses just six liters of water per flush. The performance of this toilet is compared with that of an 8-liter toilet. The 6-liter toilet is highly reliable and operates by conventional gravity drainage, so additional energy is not required for special facilities such as vacuum or pressure transportation systems. The new system also offers an improved the shape of the bowl, an automatic flush valve with excellent flow characteristics, an optimized drainage pipe inclination, etc. This report also describes the good discharge performance of the 6-liter toilet.

In this paper, tendency of usage in the washrooms of primary students by comparison with past research effect were made clear. No differences between primary school in Nagano City and Matumoto City about occupied time of the sanitary fixtures were made clear. The results of investigation were as follows; 1) The time of occupation of the urinal in the boy washroom was about 20 secs, and the basin in the boy washroom was about 5 secs. 2) The time of occupation of the woman toilet was about 50 secs, and the basin in the woman washroom was about 10 secs.

In late years a construction rush of a super high-rise building continues around Tokyo urban region. The usage of the building extends variously. Supply of stable life water for such a super high-rise building is the indispensable problem. Therefore I aimed for grasp of quantity of reasonable water supply and confirmation of follow of water supply pressure. And I measured actual survey of amount of water used and the driving situation of a feed pump in the super high-rise building with particularly few report cases. Because the data measurement of one year ended, it reports on the outcome to here.

Energy consumption of hot-water supply is to account for about one third of household energy consumption. For energy conservation, reducing the energy consumption for hot-water supply plays a big part. As basic research towards reducing hot-water consumption in daily life, we determined the minimum required water temperature for daily use by subjective experiments, and we calculated the energy-saving effect of not using hot-water by supplying the preheated water. The results showed that 50% of subjects accept the water temperature of 24 degC for usually use. And the water temperature of 28 degC is necessary for 90% of subjects to accept. If preheated water is supplied to kitchen and bathroom vanity, 30% or less of heat requirement for hot-water supply will be reduced, and if preheated water is supplied to all of household water use, there is possibility of reduction in about 75% heat requirement for hot-water supply.

In designing and planning of the building systems, we need the accurate estimation of energy consumptions and the correct decision of performance and capacity. Therefore, it is important to survey and study on the actual condition of energy consumption in each building. However, the data of energy consumptions in a hot spa facility is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of hot water and energy consumption of a hot spa facility in Hiroshima.

Development and Installation of energy efficient hot water supply system using CO2 heat pump is increasing. For the purpose, it is very important to grasp the system performance and hot water usage in actual condition. Field survey on the hot water consumption and the performance of CO2 heat pump water heater was carried out in 13 residential houses of 7areas Japan. The survey consists of 2 parts, on-site measurement and questionnaires. In this paper, outline of the survey, daily and hourly fluctuation of hot water consumption in winter was shown. Time variations of hot water consumption based on the measurements were compared with the results of questionnaire.

This paper presents the measurement results on the thermal and energy efficiency of heat pumps through the winter season. As the results, the average results of coefficient of performance (COP) on the heat pumps are shown based on the characteristics of hot water usage and outdoor temperature, etc. And, the efficiency of the steady and the unsteady running condition and the defrosting condition of heat pumps are analyzed by the factors of outdoor temperature and humidity of heat pump unit. Finally, the authors clarify the COP of the hot water supply system in winter.

Hot water occupies one third of total residential energy consumption, and usage in each house varies so widely. Usually heater's efficiency is evaluated in stable usage, but most important is actual one in real houses. To evaluate the real efficiency, we studied the relation between the property of hot water usage and the efficiency of gas and oil hot water boiler. Then we made the "Usage Mode" from the usage measured in 10 houses, and developed the evaluation method of real efficiency by that mode. In this paper, we analyzed the efficiency fluctuation of gas instantaneous heater produced by the usage.

The effects on efficiency of surrounding temperature, water supply temperature, and hot water flow rate were examined. The result suggested that the efficiency increased by 3% when surrounding temperature rised and 5% when hot water flow rate rised. The prediction of efficiency using the average heat of hot water supply was carried out.

In this report, the Supplying Hot Water Usage Mode making method when the efficiency of a domestic gas and the oil heater is described. It was discovered that the heat efficiency for instantaneous hot water heaters was affected on a micro level with regards to the amount of continual time used during a single action, the interval between actions, and the number of actions implemented, and hot water accumulators were affected by the time zone distribution for the actions on a micro level, so these different heat efficiency characteristics were taken into account when creating the Usage Mode. Moreover, the outline concerning ten measurement data to contribute to the Usage Mode making was described.

This paper describes a making of supplying hot water usage mode. The Standard Usage Mode consists of a combination of the reason for water use and the volume used for each action and the continual amount of time it was used for each action, and the number of actions that hot water was used over the period of one day for a household consisting of four people (a couple and two children) was set at 51 times, with 455L of hot water calculated at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius used.

The purpose of the efficiency experiment is two points (the grasp of the influence that the ambient temperature, the water supply temperature of the heater, and the Usage Mode give efficiency and the grasp of the change in efficiency according to the kind of the heater). As a result, the efficiency in winter rose in the latent heat collection type while the efficiency of summer rose in the expression heater as for the old model momentarily when the experimental condition was seen.

The partial load performance tests of multi-type package air-conditioner for buildings, the rated cooling performance of which was 56 kW, were carried out by using the air-enthalpy method testing apparatus. The annual energy consumption measured by those tests was closely compared with that estimated from the current calculating method. It was found that the current calculating method could not reproduce the deteriorations of COP that appeared under the low thermal load condition in both the cooling and heating seasons. As a result it seriously underestimated the annual energy consumption; the error amounted to as large as about 20% of the measured annual electric power consumption.

For the purpose of developing optimized control algorithm for room air-conditioners to ensure their energy efficiency, it is necessary to develop a method to estimate the energy consumption of air conditioners during a short time interval, such as one minute, to match the control interval, which is one minute in common. This paper proposes a method to estimate the energy consumption of air conditioners using the short time interval room air temperature simulation. The estimated energy consumptions are compared with measured values. The comparison shows that the estimation results are accurate enough to for evaluate the energy performance of a room air-conditioner's control algorithm.

In experiment with long period exposure, indoor air temperature had effects on task performance, and the relationship between performance and complaints of fatigue were shown. In large-scale complex buildings with temperature-stratified thermal storage tank, the driving adjustment of the heat source system was performed based on analytical results of BEMS. The energy conservation effect acquired from driving adjustment of heat source system is described in this report. The future agenda is also mentioned.

The thermal energy storage system is often used from the viewpoint of economy, but its optimum operation is difficult. It is said that the situation of various systems can be understood from changing the temperature profile in the tank. Therefore, this research aims to establish the Fault Detection technique for applying the focus at the temperature in the tank as part of developing a tool for the optimum operation. In this paper, results of trial of Fault Detection by using the data of temperature stratified thermal storage tank are presented.

It is difficult to know the behavior of air-conditioning system with thermal energy storage tanks, because almost all systems do not have flowmeter. The aim of this research is to estimate the flow rate of such air-conditioning systems, using temperature in tanks which is easy to measure. In this paper the effect of the number of temperature measuring point in tanks on the estimation accurancy will be reported.
