It is important to control the residual chlorine concentration in the bath water as a precaution against Legionnaires' disease derived from bath. On another front, some researches indicate the concerns about the credibility of chlorine meters used in generally and the lack of uniformity of residual chlorine distribution in the bath. In this study, we report the comparison of chlorine meters tested at 3 facilities with in all 4 filtration systems in Hokkaido, September 2007, and its observation of residual chlorine distribution.

Effects of silver and copper ions and residual chloride for bactericidal activity against Legionella pneumophila were evaluated at various ions concentration. It was found that the intense of bactericidal activity was as follows, silver ion >> copper ion > residual chloride. Furthermore, the coexistence conditions of residual chloride with silver or copper ion showed a synergistic bactericidal effect against Legionella pneumophila.

We have developed the pure water and functional water system for household use that provides pure water by RO and saves water consumption by producing mild alkaline and acidic water with electrolysis of rejected water from RO. Pure water shows excellent abilities in scale inhibition and reducing the amount of detergent in laundry washing. Natural detergent, less than a half of standard amount, has still demonstrates sufficient cleaning ability when it has used with pure water, which suggests the decrease of burdens on the environment. Alkaline and acidic water has shown effective decomposition of alkaline degradable agrichemical and sufficient sterilization abilities, respectively.

As the result, the nitrogen rejection ratio was a high value of 80%. As this denitrifying condition, ORP(Eh) was +30mV or less, and the pH value was 8.4. TOC extraction ratio of the treated water was good with 97〜98%. In making the pH value of treated water to be 8.3, CO_2 which volatilized to the air was stopped. However, it was not possible to stably fix by the anaerobic microorganism.

In recent years, it becomes the problem that the water pollution in a close nature water area, or a river and the source area of tap water is big, especially industrial waste water and life waste water from miscellaneous sources become a factor. For this reason, advanced processing type waste-water-treatment technology increases for a time, and attracts attention as one of the eutrophication preventive measures. Then, while developing saved type phosphorus of energy and COD removal equipment adapting the electrochemical technique already put in practical use and aiming at reduction of power consumption, the performance can be maintained for a long period of time, and improvement in the technical reliability of the waste water treatment which maintenance-checks or is easy to maintain is aimed at.

It investigated concerning of the copper hot water piping systems of building equipment, and the career of the erosion corrosion generation, and the dissolved oxygen concentration and the states of white cloudiness with the hot water. The loop circulation equipment that simulated the hot water piping systems of building equipment was constructed. The generation condition of the bubble in hot water was examined. As a result, the generation of the erosion corrosion was clarified to the closed copper hot water piping systems of building equipment and it was clarified of the generation of the bubble on the downstream side etc. of the valve by use of hot water.

An experiment on dew condensation was conducted, and compared the result to the estimated value. As a result, the estimated pipe surface temperature was lower than experimental value. The estimated dew condensation was less than experimental value. These were caused by that estimated convection heat transfer coefficient on pipe surface was less than that of experiment.

It was found, however, that a few less-bounce test balls of 25mm in diameter stopped at swirling vanes in drainage joints. A drainage flow experiment was carried out on differently-shaped test pieces to select better shapes. All of bigger balls of 35-40mm in diameter and almost all of flat ovals successfully went through drainage joints as well as horizontal pipes.

In this paper deals with experiments on the relation between the seal water loss (SWL) and the pressure wave for the test of trap performance which was suggested in former reports. The main results of the experiments can be summarized as follows. 1) The relation between SWL and the minimum pressure is expressed by linear functions with 0 constant and the coefficient of determination is over 0.9 in almost all cases. 2) Increase of the ratio of leg's cross sectional area (=outlet leg area/inlet leg area) degrease SWL and the effect of the ratio on the SWL in case of bell trap is greater than in case of contrary bell trap.

The drainage flow rate of the water saving closet tends to increase compared with the old model to improve the flushing performance and transportation. Then we examined the performance influences on drainage capacities with increases in the drainage flow rate of drainage stack system at the higher building. According to this research, the influence that qd-value (average drainage flow rate) exerts on the drainage capacities is not intensive, and the drainage load of the water saving type is almost equal to the old model.

In this study, a mathematical optimization model is constructed to analyze the energy saving characteristics of gas engine home cogeneration system (say, GE-CGS). Energy saving characteristic is analyzed by comparing GE-CGS with the corresponding conventional system composed of a gas boiler and electricity purchased from outside grid. The system's operation is determined by the optimization model, by which the annual primary energy consumption is minimized for the energy demands measured actually through one year. Energy saving characteristics is analyzed for 5 houses. As the result, no apparent energy saving improvement was observed.

The authors intend to develop Advanced Water Heating System, with combination of the latest condensing boiler and newly developed vertical installed solar heating panels. Unlike conventional solar heating system installed on detached house roof, this system is designed to be installed on the veranda of apartment houses. The study mainly focused on an evaluation of characteristic between amount of insolation and solar collection efficient

As the solar thermal system with the floor heating and the hot-water supply system needs low temperature of 40-50 degree Celsius, the effectiveness of solar collector is high. But, it is the problem that the surplus heat energy is generated in summer, as solar heat source usually persists throughout the summer period. Appropriately utilizing this surplus heat energy for the desiccant cooling system which requires high temperature of about 70 degree Celsius for regeneration of desiccant wheel, leads to efficient solar thermal system for annual use. Therefore, the solar thermal system consists of desiccant cooling system and floor heating system with hot-water collector and a closed storage tank was developed. In this paper, we reported the field measurement in winter and numerical simulation for the annual performance evaluation of the developed solar thermal system.

In the public bath facilities "Yudokoro-Hana Yuzuki", the system recovering the substation waste heat and public bath drain water heat as unutilized energy is adopted for hot water supply and snow melting. As a result of the evaluation based on the annual operating data, it was shown that the substation waste heat recovery efficiency was 38.2%, and that the quantity of the substation waste heat recovery and the quantity of the warm drain water heat recovery accounted for 17.0% and 18.2%, respectively, of the heat demand for hot water supply and snow melting.

This paper describes energy saving effect of using refuse incineration heat. The aim of this study is to search for method of optimum utilization of its heat. This study preliminarily discusses energy saving effect in different utilization of waste heat and supply target of it. Finally, it is the most efficient to use a part of refuse incineration heat for generation and the rest of it for heating and hot water of residential building around the incineration plant, but actually it might be difficult from the point of view of cost for piping.

The effects of energy conservation by using Drag Reducing Additive depends on the design and operation of the water transfer system, and it is a lot of trouble to evaluate the effects. The previous paper reported the way to evaluate the economic effects of energy conservation speedily in the first stage of the business such as ESCO. This paper reports the example of the empirical business contents and the problem solution technique, mainly on the field work that it is hard to express quantitatively.

We research energy saving technology used to cool the servers and storages at data centers, which generate a markedly high amount of heat. This study examines how to reduce Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) which is the index of facility side energy efficiency in data centers. There are three methods, which are (i)operating Packaged air conditioner in low compression ratio at low outdoor air temperatures , (ii)Using aisle-capping which covers cold aisle, (iii)Applying task and ambient cooling system. Therefore, PUE becomes less than 1.4 and the electric energy consumption of air conditioning system in Tokyo is 60% less over one year.
