In order to understand the conditions of the energy consumption and indoor thermal environment of urban residences in China, a one-year period of field measurements including electricity & gas consumption, and indoor/outdoor temperature & humidity was carried out in three residences in Shanghai, Changsha and Harbin. The results show that annual energy consumptions in Residence 1, 2 and 3 were 31.6GJ/Year, 19.0GJ/Year and 8.9GJ/Year, respectively. The cooling period in Residence 1 and 2 was from July to August, while the heating period was in January. Indoor air temperature in Residence 3, 〓ere district heating system was utilized, stayed much more stable compared to that in Residences 1 and 2.
