The authors carried out measurements about the volume of water supply loads and the consumed amount of electric power by booster pump system in a super high-rise apartment house. Based on the results of measurements, the trend of fluctuation of water consumption and electric power were analyzed. As a result, we showed that it was possible to hold down the increase of the consumption of electric energy by using the suitable water supply system on the basis of the high accuracy for water supply demands estimation.

In case of earthquake-stricken, peoples have to prepare themselves for disruption of water infrastructure. Especially, it is vital to retain the domestic noncommercial water for resident of skyscraper condominium. Above all, they need flash water of toilet in a time of disaster. Therefore, the authors research about the emergency water supply of local governments etc. In the result, emergency water supplies vary from local governments to residents. So the authors suggest that resident of skyscraper condominium need quantity of water till the restoration of infrastructure.

In this study, it dealt with dissolved organic carbon by the biological activity charcoal, and bacteria carried out inhibiting experiment by the hollow fiber membrane method In addition, ultraviolet irradiation and chlorination were used jointly. By the hollow fibermembrane method, bacteria were stopped. However, it was proven to remultiply by the cyclic use process. Then, though as a result bf using the ultraviolet irradiation method jointly, the inactivation rate of bacteria heightened, it was not possible for the no detection. The sake was that hollow fiber membrane method which solves these used the chlorination jointly. The condition was that it made the chlorination concentration to be with 2mg/L and makes the intermittent flow and on to be the filtration tank back step in 4 time/d.

The influence of flushing water on the precipitate formation from urine in drainpipes was investigated. In the case of using flush water, hydroxyapatite and amorphous calcium phosphates were precipitated as rigid scale on the surface of drainpipe. In contrast, in the case of waterless condition, struvite was precipitated in gel-like matrix composed of amorphous calcium phosphates and organic compounds, resulting from high concentration of urine and high pH. It is suggested that the waterless condition prevents the formation of rigid scale on the surface of the drainpipe.

Estimating partial-load performance of centrifugal chiller is very important to operate a heat source system in high efficiency. In this paper, we show a method of calculating the partial-load performance for fixed-speed chiller and iiriable-speed chiller. The method is flamed by simple equations derived from thermodynamics and fluid dynamics of centrifugal compressor. The performance at various operations can be calculated by the method (partial-load ratio, cooling water temperature, chilled water temperature). Accuracy of the method is compared with measurement performance data. Furthermore, the method will be applied for a control board of chiller and a simple simulation which consists of Excel spreadsheets.

Usually, district heating and cooling (DHC) plant is evaluated by its efficiency. However, the efficiency of the plant may be influenced by the heat load pattern or the temperature that is different in each DHC. If this influence is large, each DHC can't be compared only in efficiency. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate these influences quantitatively. In the last of this paper, the difference in three calculation methods of exhaust heat from combined heat and power was considered.

Minimization of the energy during the operation of building is becoming an important issue to reduce the carbon dioxide emission worldwide. For this purpose, in the design process the energy consumption of several types of air conditioning systems should be examined in depth. Preliminary research conducted by authors indicated that the widely used central air conditioning system results in a lot of energy loss due to the spatially distributed different loads in a building. In this report, the multi-split type air-conditioning system that utilises water as a heat source with individually controlled plural water pumps is examined in view of total consumption of energy during a whole year.

Investigated results of these technologies penetration rates should be useful to the development of scenarios for a Low-carbon society.

The method to generate electricity by introducing the hydrogen produced with the wastewater and waste into the fuel cell is developed. We did a basic experiment study to manufacture hydrogen by making the sugar manufacture waste fluid of an organic wastewater a substrate and using the purple nonsulphur bacterium. The relation among the substrate quantity, the photosynthesis bacillus growth rate, and the hydrogen production that influenced the efficiency of this hydrogen manufacturing system as a result of doing the case study of the batch type was able to be shown.

The relations between environmentally conscious improvement techniques and various characteristics of these techniques were analyzed from the view of renovating timeworn schools and improving classroom environment. The flowchart for planning environmentally conscious improvement techniques to particular school property was suggested. The trial of planning procedure according to this flowchart for a certain elementary school established in Kawasaki city was carried out in order to verify the planning system.

Hydrogen does not produce carbon dioxide (CO2) when burned and is hence regarded an ideal clean energy source. This study investigates the CO2-reduction effects and cost-effectiveness of a hydrogen society into which hydrogen stations and pipelines are assumed to be extensively introduced. Part 1 gives an overview of the objectives of this study. Then the methods of simulating energy use in a district heating/cooling system and individual heat source system are described. Finally, methods of evaluating annual cost and CO2 reduction cost of introducing hydrogen stations to the entire district are explained.
