Due to the formation of the separated single crystals and the needle ones in their remarkable development, the critical voltage phenomena are greatly modified in the electrolysis of silver in nitrate solution, especially in concentrated solution.
The voltage phenomena with increasing current density in the concentrated solution and with constant current density in the diluted solution are dealt with in this paper.
The influence of current density and nitric acid upon the size of silver deposits are concerned. The “grey silver” and the “black silver” which assume the spongy deposition of silver are examined with reference to the critical voltage phenomena.
