From the application of Debye-Scherrees method, such fact is found that the. iridosmine produced in Hokkaidô is the solid solution of Os and Iv, which dissolves Iv as a solute. The lattice form of it is a heyagonal close packed lattice and its lattice constant are 2.734Å(=a) 1.586 (c/a)(mining in the Teshio), 2.726 (=a) 1.586 (c/a)(mining in the Uryu). In order to confirm the above-mentioned fact, the microscopic examination was done, and as a result of it the altunating-current-electrolysis was the most suitable etching method for the iridosmine. The microstructure thus obtained shows that it consists of one phase. Os may be recovered by the oxidizingvasting and there is a linear relation between the volatiliged percentage and the roasting time. Finally, suitable refining process for the iridosmine was determined.
