Attempts have been made to provide hypothetical spectral reflectance curves for estimation of colorimetric specifications of object colors in different illuminants. A method has been developed, based on a new algorithm, for accurate computations of rectangular spectral reflectance distributions corresponding to any desired chromaticities of object colors. The rectangular spectral reflectance distributions having been assigned here to 2734 Munsell colors, the Y values and chromaticities computed by them and Munsell colors' ones agreed with each other in the four significant digits.
The basicity of metal oxides was determined by titration and electron acceptor adsorption. The distributions of sites having different basicity were similar for alumina and titania with respect to Lewis and Brönsted sites. On the other hand, in the zirconia-titania binary system, only Lewis sites existed, although the concentration of the Lewis sites was relatively low compared with that of each zirconia or titania.
