Epoxy thermoset materials are applied to a number of industrial products as a matrix of adhesive, and they are driving the technical progression of light weight organic-inorganic composite equipment. The precise design of materials is important in order to satisfy the required properties according to the intended use. For such material design, the further application of new analytical techniques enables the evaluation of functionality and stability with high accuracy, which up to now has been considered to be difficult to achieve. In the present study the reactivity of a small amount of epoxy thermosetting resin and molecular mobility in the adhesive film for semiconductor were evaluated by 1H Pulse NMR. They were found to differ according to the molecular weight of acrylic copolymer present but could not be confirmed using the conventional evaluation method. Comparing adhesive properties, heat treatment before curing greatly affected the adhesion property but there was no effect with less reactive adhesive film. Additionally, it is suggested that this reactivity is due to the molecular mobility and it depends on the molecular weight of the acrylic component.
Pearlescent pigment is basically a substance that creates pearl-like deep sheen by optical multiple reflection of thin film and interference phenomenon of light. The method generally used for producing pearlescent pigment coats mica substrate with ultra-fine particles of titanium dioxide. Micaceous pearlescent pigments have high safety and stability. Therefore they are used for various applications among many industries such as cosmetics, coating materials, inks or plastics. Recent research and development for original style pearlescent pigments has been conducted by using synthetic flake substrate and improving metal oxide coating technology.
Solvent gradient HPLC is a superior separation method for polymer samples. The polymer were eluted depending on difference in composition without depending on the molecular weight with linear gradient from 100% poor solvent to 100% good solvent. The elution behaviors of acrylate polymer blend samples and styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymers [P(St-MMA)] were characterized by 2D-HPLC that combined solvent gradient HPLC and SEC.
Nowadays silane coupling agents are widely used in bonding inorganic and organic materials, and play a fundamental role in the field of hybrid materials. In this paper, I focus on the reaction mechanism of silane coupling agent, which have not been well discussed before, and describe the effects of reaction conditions or solvent selection. In addition, latest researches in this field are shown and describe the future prospects of silane coupling agents.
Anti-corrosion paints are applied outdoors and subjected to the film formation. These coating films protect the steel structures from the corrosion for a long time. Usually, the paints are used in multilayer films to protect the steel structures from the corrosion. Resin is one of the main elements that express the function of each layer. To develop the paints and to select any coatings to apply the steel structure which be installed in each environment conditions, the basic knowledge of the resin used in the coating is very important. In this course, various synthetic resins which are used to the room temperature cure-type anticorrosion paints are described.
