Analytically investigated in this paper are some fundamental properties of the servomechanism which is linear in all except the fact that it contains one saturable gain component. The indicial response of such control system largely depends on the magnitude of step input displacement and, to that of linear system, it is inferior in the speed of response, but is superior in the point of less overshoot. Also discussed are the relations bettween the indicial response and open loop frequency response of such sys tem.The velocity lag error for ramp input in Type I system with saturable gain may be classified into such three categories as linear error, saturable error with finite steady state value and saturable error with infinite steady state value. The jumping phenomena in frequency response of such system are investigated with respect to their classification, generating mechanisms and the regions in which they occur.
