The vibration problems in a carrier type position servo-mechanism are investigated in connection with the jitters in a self-balancing recoder. At first, the recorder block-diagrams are standardized for the ease of understanding the system stability and vibration mode.
Since the most significant causes of the carrier frequency vibrations in the recorders are the cross-more noise and the unbalanced d. c. control voltage, the effects of these two on the magnitude of vibration are analyzed using vibration transfer functions.
Further, the non-linear vibrations caused by the potentiometer granularity are studied by a describing function analysis and a phase space analysis, and a method of adjusting the system constants to prevent the vibration is presented.
