The longitudinal motion of a submarine will be affected by the change of the inherent characteristics, which are subject to the influence of the speed and the BG effect, and also by the external forces and moments. In the depth control system, these influences cannot be ignored and especially the influence of the speed and the BG effect is greatly marked in the extent of speed under 10 knots. The change of the sea water density due to the temperature difference and the deformation of the body due to the depth change cause the external forces and moments. This paper discusses how to treat the problems concerning the submarine depth control system and shows the practically applicable techniques.
