With the recent progress of computer-controlled systems, there is an increasing recognition and demand for nondestructive-readout analog memory elements which play an essential function in combining a computer and a controlled process. For use in control systems, basic requirements for such elements are that not only nondestructive-readout is possible, but that contents should not be subject to appreciable variation for long period under normal operation or even when there is an emergent cut-off of electrical sources.
In view of performance and economy, a Transfluxer, a multihcle magnetic core with rectangular B-H characteristic can be used to meet specifications.
While the principle of Transfluxer itself is not new, several new ideas have been incorporated to develop a practical device using Transfluxers.
For example, high accuracy has been attained by the method of sampling and integration in feedback setting. An effective method has been developed to give a suitable bias to a two-hole Transfluxer, thereby monotoneously decresing writing characteristic for feedback setting is obtained.
The following results were obtained:
The range of memory is from -10 volt to +10 volt. The accuracy is that 2σ is less than 0.3% by the setting time of 63 milli-sec., and 0.1% by 200 milli-sec, immediately after setting. The drift after setting and the error after restoration of the damage in electrical source are both small from practical point of view.
