The DDC system at Nagoya works of Fuji Iron and Steel Company was completed in November 1967 with the purpose of centralizing control units and improving batch sequence controls of an annealing plant. It employs the YODIC-500 DDC system, which was specially designed for DDC and has 8, 000 words core memory and a partially duplicated central processor unit.
The annealing plant is a large scale system with 102 bases and 42 furnaces; the DDC system automatically controls the furnace and coil temperature, and batch sequences.
The operation data indicate that greater controllability has been attained because high system accuracy has increased porduction efficiency.
