    An all-transistorized current transmitter was investigated to transmit the electric signal which corresponds to the indication of measuring instrument. It is very useful for the measuring instrument to communicate the measured value to the remote recorder or controller.
    This transmitter circuit is in such construction as to proportionally change the series-control type constant current source by the reference voltage corresponding to the rotation angle of instrument pointer.
    The transmission current is 4-20mA and the load is in the range of 0-800Ω.
    The error caused by the change of ambient temperature was kept within ±0.5% of full scale for the change of 0-60°C by adopting a transistor as thermo-compensating element.

    Presented in this paper are non-linear stochastic filters whose non-linear characteristics is changed according to the value of a certain stochastic process (control process) other than the input to the filter. The auto-correlation function of output process is generally expressed in terms of two dimensional probability density functions of input process and control process. Particularly, in the case that both the input and control processes are Gaussian the auto-correlation function of the output process is simply expressed in terms of the auto-correlation coefficients of these processes. Moreover, it is proved that the polarity correlator and random-voltage-method correlator for Gaussian processes are the applications of these non-linear stochastic filters. The non-linear stochastic filters are expected to be of good use in analysis of stochastic processes and other fileds.

    In the control system which has a feedback compensation device to improve the characteristics of the system, the design of the compensator has been performed mainly in frequency domain. This design procedure is based on the trial and error method, and it is difficult to know the effect of compensation.
    The authors discuss the compensating effects in regard to indicial responses and propose the procedures for determining in time domain the parameters of the compensators. By this design procedure, we can not only easily determine the parameters of feedback compensator as well as series compensator, but also know the characteristics of compensated control system.

    Presented in this paper is a device to solve diffusion problems. From the view point of probability diffusion problems are defined as an investigation of Markov process under some initial and boundary conditions. It is proved that the solution of the given diffusion differential equation is the transition probability of the process generated under some conditions required by the diffusion problems. This method of analysis is also applicable to the nonstationary problems. The generator of Markov process with any condition is presented and by this generator the O-U process, a typical process of the diffusion problems, is generated. Its transition probabilities are measured and compared with the theoretical solution of the corresponding diffusion differential equation. Experiment shows that this analyzer is useful even in case the solution can not be obtained analytically.

    Presented in this paper is an automatic wavelength control used in the interferometric ruling machine for standard line scale. The machine has a fringe counting interferometer to control the positions to be ruled using the wavelength of Kr86 0.565μm line. The machine also has a Fizeau interferometer to control the wavelength used in the position-controlling interferometer in order to obtain an integral counting number of fringes for the scale line intervals of 1mm and to remove the errors caused by variation of the refractive index of surrounding air and thermal expansion of scale blanks. The Fizeau interferometer is set in a closed vessel and the interference fringes of five visible lines of Hg198 lamp are detected by photoeletric elements. The conditions are calculated for obtaining the maximum fringe signals from the Fizeau interferometer. The optimum values for the reflactance of the mirrors and the distance between them are found to be 50-60% and 67-80mm respectively. The air pressure in the vessel is controlled by the on-off system operated by the fringe signals of the Fizeau interferometer. The accuracy of the wavelength controlled by this method is found to be ±2×10-7. This accuracy can be kept even in long run test.

    Introduced in this paper are nomograms which can be used for solving third order characteristic equation which is Hurwitz and a study on critical conditions of third order feedback control system.
    Characteristic equation of third order constant coefficient differential equation or characteristic equation of third order feedback control system is generally as follows:

    where s is parameter of Laplace transform. The equation (a), when each of its coefficients is not equal to zero, can be modified into

    Recently, automatic control of voltage and wattless current on electric power system has been carried out in good result. However, so long as the control of voltage and wattless current is carried out at each power station individually, there is a limit in control ability since control action at one station is apt to give bad influence on the controls at other stations.
    In order to remove such defect, moderate-scale power system coverings several stations should be regarded as on group and these stations should cooperate each other in making the control as a multivariable system. In this case, information to be treated is in so big quantity that an adequate and quick processing of the information becomes necessary to control the voltage and wattless current to meet the variation of these values.
    Presented in this paper is a new method for controlling the voltage and wattless current by means of a particular equipment consisting of a maximum amplitude filter, logic circuits and simple analogue circuits. Digital simulation proved that this method is applicable to actual power system. In particular, this method is very useful for on-line control since the response of processing unit is quicker than that of other equipments. This method is also excellent in reliability because of simplicity of the equipment used.

    Presented in this paper is a study on how the contact between outer and inner guide tubes of the reactance attenuator (with a wave guide below cutoff) affects the attenuation constant. It has been said up to now that the attenuator needs perfect contact between outer and inner guides. It is proved that the attenuation of the reactance attenuator having imperfect contact between the two guides is in same value as that of the attenuator with perfect contact up to V.H.F. band. In case machine oil (less than 1/100mm thick) is spreaded between the two tubes having a gap of 1/100 to 5/100mm between each other, the error of attenuation is less than 0.05dB for 20dB attenuation. (Gap length is less than 1/4 wavelength.) In consequence, the problem relating to the contact has become very simple in design and construction.

    In many control systems, there are often used low-frequency phase-shifting devices such as phase lead devices to get quick response or phase lag devices to prevent steady state error between input and output signals. Especially, in d.c. control systems, frequencies of input signal are usually in the range of 0.001∼a few cycles per second, so satisfactory result can not be obtained if using conventional CR phase-shifting device. In this connection, separately-excited d.c. motors with comparatively large time constant may be used instead of static condensers. Characteristics of d.c. motoers, however, is not exactly equal to that of static condensers, but is expressed as the combination of a static condenser and resistors. In this paper, equivalent circuit and dynamic characteristics of this device are discussed in detail.

    In this paper, the author, deriving new characteristic equations of 2-phase servo-motor consisting of five simultaneous differential-integral equations, gave the relations of reference current iR(t), control current iC(t), rotor current distribution i(t, φ), torque T(t) and angular displacement of rotor θ(t).
    By solving these equations for the cases when the servo-motor is driven by several types of power sources under the condition that the rotor is stationarily revolving with a constant speed, various characteristics such as the effect of circuit constants on rotor torque, the condition under which a single-phase running does not occur, etc. are studied.
    Especially it is emphasized that, in the torque-speed curves, the time-varying torque having a frequency twice as large as the source voltage frequency exists at non-zero speed, and therefore, when the servo-motor is rotating by its own torque, the rotor intrinsically has speed variation whose magnitude will be affected by the rotor inertia.

    Beta-ray thickness gage requires a pre-amplifier of high input impedance for amplification of small input current of 10-11∼10-12 amp. generated in the ionization chamber. A solid-state circuit, which is considered ideal to be used in automation instruments, is realized by using the technique of parametric oscillating amplifier incorporating a “Pico-diode”-a variable capacitance diode with very low leakage current. This amplifier is entirely reliable and perfect for industrial instruments. The β-ray thickness gage with the solid-state electrometer (pico-diode electrometer) requires no warm-up time. Since it needs only small amount of radio isotope for its high sensitivity and stability, safety is improved, too. Given in this paper are features of this β-ray thickness gage, principle and characteristics of the solid-state electrometer, analysis of transfer characteristics of the oscillating amplifier and some of their applications.

    This paper presents the results of theoretical analysis and experiment of rotary hydraulic servomotor which consists of a pilot valve and an axial piston motor.
    It is well known that oil leakage problem can not be ignored in an axial piston motor. Unlike in a linear motor (e.g. cylinder-and-piston type motor), there is considerable oil leakage not only between high and low pressure sides (internal leakage) but also between shell and each side (external leakage).
    To the authors' knowledge, there have been few papers describing theoretical analysis of rotary hydraulic servomotor taking the external leakage into consideration.
    In this paper the authors analyze servomotor taking its external and internal leakages into consideration and in this analysis they introduce a new method of approximation for the “load pressure vs. load flow characteristics” of pilot valve.
    The result of this theoretical analysis fairly well coincides with that of experimental result.
    From the result of the above mentioned theoretical and experimental researches, it becomes evident that the existence of external leakage is equivalent to an increase in internal leakage.
