This paper was composed of clinical and electron microscopic studies on Bowen's disease. Clinically, twenty-six patients with Bowen's disease seen by the present author were reported and summarized in comparison with those of references. From the results obtained, the author proposed a new subclassification of the disease, basing on primary efflorescences developed to appear in the lesions. Electron Microscopically, it was clarified that the cells of Bowen's disease were more similar to those of squamous cell cancer rather than to those of normal and/or benign hyperplastic epidermis. From the findings, it was concluded that Bowen's dis ase was classified cytologically as cancer in situ.
