Recently many tourists are visiting Miyazaki to see Mr. Higashikokubaru, the governor of Miyazaki. In Miyazaki the sales of the prefectures products are increasing along with tourism. There are some people who think that this is a transient boom, namely, it's a theatrical or festival-like phenomenon.
As there is a possibility of the boom ending in the short term, it is important to support the boom now. That is to say, tourism is about competition and differentiation. It is the tourist that evaluates the tourism all. So we must investigate their needs and satisfaction levels, and reflect on them. I examined the orientation of tourism in Miyazaki through the behavior of the tourists who visited Miyazaki and the investigation of their satisfaction rating.
It was clear that the tourists were visiting Miyazaki for the exotic atmosphere of a southern land in my investigation. A lot of people feel the exotic atmosphere of Miyazaki, and are requesting exoticism from the prefectures food and souvenirs. Therefore, it can be said that, it is important to deepen the exotic mood for the continued development of Miyazaki’s tourism.
Honolulu Marathon is popular among the Japanese families, who claim they aim to strengthen their family ties through the marathon experience. However, this ”bonding” process begins in Japan while they start preparing for their trip. That is, these families practice their everyday life in the non ordinary, unlike the common assumption that argues tourism is cut off from their ordinary time and space.
This study shows that a family vacation has both the elements of the ”ordinary” and the ”nonordinary” at the same time. It challenges the binary, as has been proposed by Turner and others, that defines the tourism as ”nonordinary” activities.
The present study was conducted with the aim of collecting real issues of international ecotourism. In this paper, I report that Japan association for Greening of Deserts' tree-planting project in Engebei Desert, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China contributed to the success of greening of desert ecotourism in that area.
This case study indicates that there are 3 steps in activities of Japan association for Greening of Deserts' tree-planting project. First step is the start of planting tree by Japan association for Greening of Deserts. Second step is that tree-planting project has great benefits the region’s environment and economy. Finally step is that the activities of tree-planting are established as a
greening of desert ecotourism. However, inhabitants of that district have not participated in those
ecotourism activities. If it creates a sustainable ecotourism system in that area, it should incorporate opinions or suggestions from inhabitants.
In western and other countries, there are many studies about the ecotourism that relate to international volunteer activities. On the other hand, there is little research in Japan where international volunteer ecotourism is popular. So, it is important to discussion about national volunteer tourism that is new style of tourism in Japan.
