This paper is intended as an investigation into the tourism and community development Program of Tendo city (which is known for its production of shogi pieces). Tendo became a tourist area with the discovery of a hot spring in the Meiji era. Unfortunately, it doesn't have other notable spots, so it has events and strived to develop a nightlife circuit.
Because of the changing tastes of tourists and the development of express traffic networks competition among tourism destinations has increased in recent years, and the number of tourists have been falling in Tendo. Since 2000, Tendo city has developed ”Action Plan 21” in order to re-vitalize tourism and solve this problem. The decline in tourists shows, however, little intention of stopping and so I conducted an actual condition research.
According to my research, half of the respondents answered that they had visited ”Tendo Onsen” hot spring which is conspicuously located along the national highway. On the other hand, less than 20% of respondents said that they had visited tourist attractions in the city center although they answered they were satisfied with them. Reflection on some of these responses will make clear that the reason most people do not visit these facilities is a lack of name recognition. Throughout this research I discovered that incompetent publicity for the tourism facilities made them under used treasures. Furthermore, I suggest ways to develop sustainable tourism in Tendo and provide effective ways to increase the number of tourists.
To identify potential clientele for green tea-based tourism and to clarify the target image for each tourism program, we determined the degree of interest shown by people living in Tokyo and Shizuoka in green tea-based tourism. The results indicated that 19% of these people were greatly interested in green tea-based tourism. Moreover, cluster analysis indicated 3 prototype target images for the green tea-based tourism programs: (1) people showed interest in tea-picking and the landscape of tea plantations, (2) people showed interest in drinking tea, and (3) people showed interest in the history of tea and tea culture.
In the Europe, to strengthen regionalism and governance in the cross-border region have been actively enhanced through various regional development programmes and funds. On the other hand, England has been described as a very much centralised netion for a long time. Increasingly, however, recent wave of regionalisation has been accelerating re-drawing of existing boundaries and re-scaling of spaces in the UK. Focused on the cross-border cooperation in the Channel Area from 2000 to the present, this paper investigates the situation of ”tourism” in the Interreg programmes (Channel and 2 Seas programmes) and explores the role of tourism in establishing European identities.
Chiba is a major destination of urban tourism such as Tokyo Disney Land, while attracting rural tourists from the Metropolitan area at the same time. Nevertheless, the relationship between these two types of tourism demand has not been investigated in detail yet.
Therefore this paper explored the factors affecting the rural method. The results of model estimation clarified that the rural tourism demand was negatively affected from growing demand for urban theme park and also influenced by macro conditions, gas prices and weather conditions.
