In scenarios of fat brane or universal extra dimensions, the SM particles are allowed to propagate in the extra spatial dimensions, which leads to the enhancement of production cross sections of black holes and p-branes. Especially, the ratio of p-brane cross section to the black hole cross section increases substantially, in comparison with the original confined scenario. The ratio can be as large as 105 (for the case n 7, m=5=p=r=k).

Some old and new ideas on symmetry breaking, based on the presence of extra dimensions that have been the subject of a very fast development and intensive studies during the last years, will be presented in these lectures. Special attention will be devoted to the various compactification mechanisms, including toroidal and orbifold compactifications, and to non-trivial boundary conditions or Scherk-Schwarz compactification. Also symmetry breaking by Wilson lines, or Hosotani breaking characteristic of non-simply connected compact manifolds will be analyzed in some detail. The different mechanisms will be applied to the breaking of the most relevant symmetries in particle physics: supersymmetry and gauge symmetry. The required background for these lectures is Quantum Field Theory, Supersymmetry and some rudiments of Kaluza-Klein theory. The different sections will be illustrated with examples.

The trilinear and quadrlinear couplings of bileptons with usual gauge bosons in the minimal 3-3-1 model are presented. We find that four different gauge boson couplings may have unusual space-time structure. Based on these results we show that couplings justify the tree unitarity requirement at high energy limit.

We consider the 5D gauge unification of SU(2)_L×U(1)_Y into SU(3)_w at a TeV scale. Compactification of the extra dimension on an orbifold S^1/(Z_2×Z'_2) allows fixed points where SU(2)_L×U(1)_Y representations can be assigned. We explain the long proton lifetime and the top-bottom mass hierarchy geometrically. We also show that local gauge anomalies on the orbifold can be exactly cancelled by a 5D Chern-Simons term with a jumping coefficient.

We discuss the fermion mass hierarchy and their flavor mixings in the fat brane scenario. After fixing the matter configurations and introducing a SUSY breaking source, SUSY breaking parameters are formulated. The decoupling spectrum in our scenario are discussed in some detail.

We discuss the perturbative QCD approach for the exclusive two body B-meson decays to light mesons. We briefly review its ingredients and some important theoretical issues on factorization approach. We show numerical results which are compatible with present experimantal data for the charmless B-meson decays. Specailly we predict the possibility of large direct CP violation effects in B^0→π^+π^- (23±7%) and B^0→K^+π^- (-17±5%). In the last section we investigate two methods to determine the weak phases Φ_2 and Φ_3 from B→ππ, Kπ processes. We obtain bounds on Φ_2 and Φ_3 from present experimental measurements.

The procedure of k_T factorization proof in PQCD method is shown, by considering the radiative corrections to πγ*→γ. In this report, the proof of the k_T factorization is demonstrated at O(α_s) diagrams as a simple example. This demonstration supplies us, however, the key points toward the all-order proof of k_T factorization theorem for exclusive B meson decays.

We discuss how to constrain two interesting models with new physics at the TeV scale. The first one is the Randall-Sundrum model with gauge fields in the bulk. We find, that in order to have successful electroweak symmetry breaking the wave-functions of the bulk gauge fields have to be varying, which introduces a large S and T parameter. This in turn implies that the mass scale of the KK gauge bosons must be so heavy that they would be onobservable at the LHC. The second one is the Dimopoulos-Kaplan model of electroweak symmetry breaking via the SU(3)×SU(2) ×U(1) gauge group. We again find that due to the mixing between the heavy and the light gauge bosons there would be large corrections to electroweak prescision measurements, and the model is so constrained that it would not be observable at the LHC.

The string breaking is discussed in U(1)^<N-1> Abelian effective theories of QCD. When a screening is expected, the static potential shows a flattening in the long-range region and a linear behavior in the intermediate region. We show why the screening is better observed in the Polyakov-loop correlators than in the Wilson loops. The breaking of the adjoint string is explained without the Z(N) picture.

We propose a natural Higgs sector in E_6 grand unified theory (GUT) with anomalous U(1)_A gauge symmetry. Here, the doublet-triplet(DT) splitting can be naturally realized. Moreover, combining the Higgs sector and the matter sector, which successfully reproduces realistic quark and lepton mass matrices, we can obtain a completely consistent E_6 GUT scenario.

Several cosmological effects produced by neutrinos are briefly discussed. Upper and lower cosmological limits on neutrino mass are derived. The role that neutrinos may play in formation of large scale structure of the universe is described and neutrino mass limits are presented. Effects of neutrinos on cosmological background radiation and on big bang nucleosynthesis are discussed. Limits on the number of neutrino flavors and mass/mixing are given.
