A multi-panel type noise barrier is designed to achieve high noise reduction at high-rise buidlings adjacent to conventional railways, and also to reduce the wind load. In a 1/5 scale model wind tunnel experiment, wind load reduction effect is examined for a variety of multi-panel type barriers. Regarding noise reduction, a numerical study using 2D-FDTD method is performed to investigate the effect of width, angle and number of panels. Furthermore, mock-up barriers are tested on site with real trains, and a corresponding tendency is found between numerical and measured results.
