Experimental study of solid mixing on the relation between the mixing ratio or the concentration of component and the rate of mixing was carried out with a 2-dimentional V-type mixer from the view point of the circulation flow of the particles. Observation revealed that the mean circulation time of the particles is independent from the mixing ratio, and the rate coefficient of mixing after the few seconds of the first period of mixing process is also free from the mixing ratio.
The process of mixing can be expressed with the following equation from the view point of the circulation flow of the particles;
ln(
Mmax/
c)=-κ(θ/
T)+
kwhere,
Mmax is the degree of mixing devised on the maximum concentration of the detecting component in the mixture,
c the mean concentration, κ the dimensionless rate coefficient of mixing, θ the mixing time,
T the mean circulation time of the particles and
k the constant concerns to the first period of mixing process.
