Assuming that the round fish is a long cylinder with average radius a and that the splitted fish is a wide plate of a uniform thickness of
l (=π/4 a), the author deduced the next formulae approximately from the theoretical oint of view:
for splitted fish:
ts=0.65/γ(1-
w/
w0)
1.20a/
E-e+0.115/K(1-
w/
w0)
1.86a
2 for round fish:
tr=0.86/γ(1-
w/
w0)
1.20a/
E-e+0.270/
K(1-
w/
w0)
2.03a
2 where t denote the time during which the water contained in the total fish body becomes a constant ratio to the initial water, E-e the saturation difference of water vapour and γ and κ are the coefficient of evaporation of water at the surface and the diffusivity constant of water in the fish body respectively. Comparing these formulae with the data observed. we obtained the numerical values of γ and κ as γ=0.0039, κ=0.0093 (g. hr. mmHg units), which are nearly the same as already been obtanined by the different methods.
