We examined the nutritive values of processed food, so-called “Kaihomen” prepared from
Laminaria sp., Alginic acid and its salts by animal feeding.
The results obtained were as the following.
(1) The nutritive value of “Kaihomen” is very lower than that of the original algae, and that it makes low the nutritive value of good digestive foods in growth experiment. (see Table 3-5)
(2) The principal cause of the bad effect of “Kaihomen” is the ash of it. (see Table 11)
(3) But in the case of hunger experiment “Kaihomen” shows a little nutrive value. (see Table 6-9)
(4) Alginic acid and its salts do not show bad effect as “Kaihomen”, but show a little nutritive value. (see Table 12-13)
