At present the developments of composite materials are sought in various fields. The purpose is to combine the selected physical properties of each constituent in order to improve the characteristics of the composite materials.
In the graphite body, characteristics such as mechanical strength, electrical resistivity etc. are changed by the addition of fibrous material which is considered as a part of the filler.
Carbon and graphite fibers made from polyacrylic nitril fiber are used in this experiment.
It is concluded that the resulted graphite composite has gained a low coefficient of thermal expansion, a high anisotropic ratio as well as a high mechanical strength and a low electrical resistivity.
