We have tried a theoretical study upon the experimental results obtained by the preceeding method.
In other words, we considered that the brush is a vibration system of the combination of elastic body and shock absorver and gat its approximate solution by method of concentrated mass.
From the above study we arrived at the conclusion that the improvement of contacting condition of the brush depends upon the following conditions;
(1) That the elasticity (
E), apparent density (ρ) and the length of the brush should be reduced to minimum.
(2) That the modulus of solid viscosity ξ and ξ/√
Eshould be big. In order to assure if the above theoretical observation agrees with the exprimental, results, we compared the theoretical curve mathematically obtained and the experimental curve obtained from the experimental results. The result of the comparison proved that the two curves were almost same.
Since there is a certain definite relation between stability of sliding contact and commutation characteristics, we believe the above conclusion can above applied to the case of commutation.
