We analyzed the relation between geographical feature and forest type by Geographic Information Systems(GIS) for the Yamagata University Forest in Kaminagawa. It became clear that GIS worked effectively in a forest type classification using a geographical feature element. A three dimensional topographic analysis was suggested to be useful for difficult analysis such as landscape analysis. We found that GIS was very useful in the analysis of various forest information. It was expected that the GIS would be more effective by improvement of the Digital National Information in near future.
