A mobile delimber, which delimbs a whole-tree log during yarding carried out by the pulling force of the tower yarder's winches, was applied to clear cutting. The full tree system using the delimber and the tree length system using felling and delimbing by chainsaw were compared by analyzing the time spent per tree. In the case where the maximum yarding distance was less than 100〜140 m, the payload of the tower yarder exceeded 3 logs and the operational efficiency of the chainsaw was higher because of the small log size, the tree length system may be more suitable. However, in clear cutting where logs were bigger and the maximum yarding distance exceeded 100 m, higher efficiency of the full tree system by the delimber was recognized. Fuel consumption for delimbing by the delimber was only 0.13 ℓ/m3. This value was 1/12 - 1/14 for that of a processor and 1/6 for that of a chainsaw.
