Recently it is required to develope a compact vibrator with high Q-factor and low natural frequency as the time bace of a clock. In this report, aiming to make the above vibrator, the theoretical and experimental analyses about a W type ttlning pieces are discussed. AS the results, the simple formula is obtained to anticipate the frequency and the modes of vibration of the tuning pieces. And it was made sure experimentally that the tuning pieces have a high Q-factor. By adding the mass to the ends of the W type tuning piece so that the cent re of gravity of it coincides with \the stIpporting point, the natural frequency of the W type tuning piece is 5O% lower than that of the tuning fork, and the energy loss from the supporting point by its vibration is reduced in spite of added masses. Therefore, this W type tuning piece can maintain high Q-factor.
