We evaluated the ball-sensor performance of RoboCup small size robot by replacing conventional thru-scan method sensor with the other sensors. As the results, the performance of the defuse-scan sensor was unstable with the influence of ambient light on playing field, while that of the distance measuring sensor could reliably recognize the ball away from front direction of robot. The performance of distance measuring sensors is not even enough for replacing the conventional ones in the range of present experiment, however, we confirmed that sensor will be very useful on planning the sophisticated strategy because it will give us high-precision distance by high-speed response.
This paper evaluates and discusses the “Dormitown” project in National Institute of Technology, Toyota College (NITTC) by a questionnaire for NITTC staff. As a result, it is clarified that the project is successfully developed and produced an interdisciplinary research/education system and a regional-development environment. It is expected that this study is not limited to the feedback of “Dormitown” project, but applied also to future rural revitalization by industry/academia/government cooperation.
This study describes the evaluation of exchange activity in hilly and mountainous area by local residents.
It was clarified that the local residents have high evaluation and wish continuation of exchange activity. On the other hand, the local residents holds dissatisfaction on announcement.
Furthermore, it was clarified that the participants of exchange activity have also high evaluation to activity. They wish the exchange activity with children of the same generation in urban area.
Recently developed SBHS steel has a high yield strength than conventional steels, the cost per strength as compared with conventional steel is superior to conventional steel. However, the behavior of the plastic zone of the structural member with SBHS steel has not been clarified, the energy absorbing member in the seismic design, such as steel piers at present, cannot be applied.
In this study, produced a specimen of steel bridge pier by the elastic-plastic designed SBHS steel and conventional steel for the L2 level of ground motion (SM490Y), this to investigate the mechanical properties of when the seismic force is applied, to evaluate the seismic performance in the plastic region of SBHS steel piers.

How should we develop students’ accuracy and fluency in English? How should we prevent them from underachievement or demotivation in learning English? Setting a goal based on a few examinations including a survey at the beginning of the new term, the English classes were conducted. This paper shows what the English teachers did in the classes of 1st and 2nd graders and what results the students achieved. Also, it suggests a future plan for ESD( Education for Sustainable Development) and Oral Interpretation in the 2nd term in 2016.
During the second semester, we gave a series of supplementary lessons to support the first-grade students who got a failing grade in dynamics in the first semester. To encourage the students to study, we gave the lessons with paying attentions to the following points: (i) inviting the students who wish to join the lessons, (ii) making teaching materials of dynamics including the problems for fundamental mathematics, (iii) giving the supplementary lessons in the students’ free time before their club activities begin, and (iv) employing teaching assistants who take good care of the students.
From correlation analyses of the academic results of the first semester with those of the second semester, it is concluded that our supplementary lessons effectively expand an understanding of dynamics for the low-performing students.
Depopulation in rural areas and decline of local industries have become a serious problem in Japan. As one possible step to improve this situation, the “Dormitown” project in National Institute of Technology, Toyota College (NITTC) carried out a summer school for urban children in a hilly and mountainous area. In this paper, we evaluate effects of the school on participating children and their parents with a questionnaire survey. It is presented that the project can give educational experience and evoke interests in rural areas from children. These results indicate possibilities of our approach to contribute a regional vitalization.
This study evaluated whether physical exercise training (PET) at a frequency of once a week for six weeks would improve mood states in advanced engineering course students. Nineteen male subjects performed six weeks PET in physical education-related class. The training program was composed of three processes: 1) 6 strength machines training; 2) 3 varieties empty weight training; 3) 10 min× 2 sets step exercise. Before and after 6 weeks PET, we tested mood states in subjects using the Profile of Mood States (POMS)－Brief Form. After 6 weeks PET, the score of fatigue and confusion showed significant decrease (P< 0.05). From these results, it was suggested that six weeks PET would serve an improvement of the mood states in advanced engineering course students.
In this study, we investigated a swimming ability of the students in national institute of technology Toyota college.
We compared the records in three minutes swimming between 2006 (209 students) and 2016 (210 students). The subjects were second grade students in this college.
The present results suggested the followings. The swimming ability in technical college students improved in comparison with ten years ago. The records of men and women distinction advanced than ten years ago. The records by major department also advanced than ten years ago. The gender difference was indicated in both 2006 and 2016. From a result of the histogram, a record of the swimming ability would be improved in comparison with the record ten years ago, generally.
