A jet ignition method by hydrogen flame jet is proposed to control the combustion of lean mixtures. Hydrogen flame jet is supplied from the cavity whose volume is less than one percent of the main chamber volume through the nozzle. It is worried that the heat loss of the jet ignition method becomes bigger than that of conventional ignition, because the velocity of the flame jet is very fast and the temperature of it is very high. And the formation of the hot spot due to the flame jet, which might damage the wall, is worried. So the heat flux at the walls of the main chamber and the cavity were measured in the previous reports. In this report, the heat flux at the nozzle is investigated. The heat flux at the nozzle becomes bigger than that of other locations. The nozzle diameter affects the heat flux. The smaller the nozzle diameter is, the bigger the heat flux at the nozzle is. When hydrogen oxygen mixture is used in the cavity, the heat flux becomes very big.

The proportional-type oil hydraulic valve with a proportional solenoid has been widely used as a control valve which can simply control the oil hydraulic system. However, because the proportional solenoid has a structure that the magnetic flux is leaked partially in a magnetic circuit, magnetic efficiency is not necessarily good. Therefore, the magnetic circuit characteristic of this proportional solenoid was examined using the finite element analysis as a fundamental examination of the characteristics improvement of the proportional solenoid. In this finite element analysis, some magnetic flux diagram and contour graph of magnetic flux density to the change in the gap between stator and armature of this proportional solenoid were calculated and drawn. From these figures, if the gap was remained in the proportional control zone, the electro-magnetic force generated by the proportional solenoid was presumed to be constant. Moreover, the measurement value and the analytical one were compared about the relations between the gap and the electro-magnetic force of this proportional solenoid. As a result, both were almost corresponding, and it became clear that the finite element analysis which had been used this time was appropriate.

This paper deals with an experimental investigation on damping capacity of structures packed with balls. Test structures are square pipes packed with glass balls. In the structures closely packed with balls, the vibration damping capacity is improved a little. The excitation packing is necessary for the close packing. However, this process is troublesome. Also, in the optimum packing ratio where the maximum damping capacity is obtained, the excitation packing is also inevitable. On the contrary, at 50 % packing ratio, this excitation packing process is not necessary, and a large damping capacity improvement is achieved. Therefore, the effect of shape and size of structure on the damping capacity is investigated at 50 % packing ratio. Moreover, the generation mechanism of damping capacity is discussed.

We have studied the Raman scattering of Manganese (Mn) doped in GaN. The Raman spectra exhibited the characteristic peaks of pure GaN and modes that could be associated with Mn-induced lattice disorder. The Raman spectra of GaMnN grown by the Plasma-enhanced molecular beam epitaxy have been investigated. The peak about 669 cm^<-1>, as well as the broadening structures around 600〜700cm^<-1>, not observed in pure GaN have been found. The carrier concentration of a sample was also estimated from the plasmon mode attributed to that of the sample. It shows a good agreement with the data obtained from the other method.

I report about the lecture using a projector. I have given a lecture by using projector for three years. Using PowerPoint of Microsoft Corp. makes materials, and those materials are distributed to the student in advance. A student didn't need to take notes, and they could be concentrated on the teacher's explanation. After a lecture ends, I had students fill out a questionnaire. As a result, this lecture was popular with the students.

The objective of this study is to investigate the joint strength characteristics of regulated set cement concrete with construction joint at early age. Regulated set cement is used in case of an emergency repair works for road bridge and the other concrete structures. On this repair works, surface treatment is useful to achieve good bond between new concrete and old concrete. Usually the surface of construction joint were treated by shot-blast, water-jet or spreading epoxy resin, etc. Various studies have been conducted on the joint strength characteristics. however, a few studies have targeted the joint strength characteristics at an early age. Therefore, in this study the effect of surface treatment on joint strength at an early age is investigated. As the results, it was shown that joint strength is affected by surface treatment and age, etc.

A stiffening Method of existing cylindrical steel piers is studied by experimental ways. On the experimental way steel piers are stiffened by rectangular steel plates on it. On the Stiffening structures are set using the plates and local buckling points created forcibly on the pier. The part of the pier which yields local buckling is controlled in base zone of it by this Stiffening structures and the ductility of the piers are improved with small increase the ultimate strength of it. We have been able to improve the ductility of piers by the Stiffening structures..

Maximum displacement response of 1 DOF system subjected to 1 cycle sine wave is calculated in order to estimate the maximum displacement response of structures in any earthquake. As results, the maximum velocity responses of linear system based on this proposed method have the constant maximum velocity. The period of sin wave that makes the structure most deformed is 0.85 times of the natural period of that structure. In order to prevent structures from large deformation, there is a threshold base shear coefficient in each restoring force characteristic case. The estimated maximum displacement response displacement is less than 1.2 times of the displacement based on this proposed method.

The subject of this thesis is to research about psychological relaxation effect of subjective exercise during free time. More 100-college students participated in this experiment. The students answered POMS (Profile of Mood States) before and after each task. The tasks were two digits mental calculation, pazulle game, read favorite book, listen to relaxation music, listen to activation music and play subjective exercise. After to listen to relaxation music and to play subjective exercise, there were better psychological effects than another tasks.
