The purpose of this study was to estimate the physical active intensity in ski education form the viewpoint of heart rate responses during skiing and/or snowboard practice. We measured the heart rate (HR) of 7 practiced skiers (:PS), 5 beginner skiers (:BS), and 6 beginner snowboarders (:BB). The HR was measured with portable heart rate monitors from 08:30 am to 04:30 pm during the practice. We analyzed the HR with an exclusive software package. The mean of the HR during the practice was 120.1±9.6 beats/min (PS), was 131.0±11.2 beats/min (BS), and was 115.7±13.0 beats/min (BB), respectively. The estimated physical active intensity was 59.3±4.7%HRmax (PS), was 64.5±5.6%HRmax (BS), and was 57.0±6.4%HRmax (BB), respectively. From the present results, we have found that physical active intensity was approximately 57%〜65%HRmax during the ski and/or snowboard practice.
