In Japan, levee breaks and floods occur frequently due to large typhoons and torrential rains, resulting in
devastating damage throughout the country. Although research on the flow for breakwaters and bends has been
conducted, there has been no research on the dike model using earthen levee.
Therefore, in this study, we examined the situation of levee breakage when a levee model was installed around
the curved part of the river channel, mainly for earthy levee with a lot of sand. Furthermore, the flow
mechanism was clarified by experiments and numerical analysis in the non-overflow condition.
It is well known that the alluvial has its natural period in relation to its depth, and makes the earthquake motion large. On the
other hand, the hill also has its natural period in relation to its height. In this paper, the natural period of a hill is calculated in
consideration of its sectional shape. As a result, the height and the sectional shape of a hill influence its natural period. But
the natural period is proportional to the height of a hill. There are many predominant periods under the 1st natural period of 3D
model in the calculated response spectra. And there is no tendency among response spectrum at each point on the 3D
We have to select one solution among many solutions in Pareto front by multiobjective optimization. In this case, we employ another evaluation function with weighting factor of each objective. If the weighting factor of each objective changes in future ages, the best solution selected by above evaluation function may not be best in future ages. The influence of variation of weighting factor to the superiority of the best solution in Pareto optimality solutions is discussed in this paper. As a result, the influence of weighting factor variation is not constant feature. It changes by both the evaluation function and the distribution of weighting factor. The evaluation by weighted direct product is stable under the variation of weighting factor. The 1st parameter whose weighting factor is 70% gives the stable multiobjective optimization.
Making the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in classes is one of the tasks for teachers these
days. It is obvious that ICT helps students collect the information they would like to know or give a presentation with
visual aids. However, it has not been discussed how ICT helps students understand the contents and promote their
interaction in English. In this research, ICT is regarded as a tool to promote students’ ideas and thoughts so that they
can more interact each other. I would like to focus on how students changed their attitude toward presentations and
English learning through the collaborative activities with ICT according to the questionnaire. It suggests that the use of
ICT helps with the composition of their presentation and spending more time for group work. However, it shows the
use of ICT does not directly enhance their proficiency in English.
The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of victory or defeat on psychological state during competition
in high school baseball player. To assess a psychological state during competition, we used the Diagnostic Inventory
of Psychological State during Competition (DIPS-D.2). The DIPS-D.2 test was performed twice in the games won
and lost in the official high school baseball game. Eleven baseball players of X high school who played in both games
answered to DIPS-D.2 immediately after games. Compared to the winning game, the total score of DIPS-D.2 was
significantly lower in the losing game (P<0.05). In particular, the scales of endurance and self-control were
significantly lower in the losing game (P<0.05). The present results indicate that a psychological state during
competition in high school baseball player goes down in the losing game than the winning game. Moreover, it is
suggested that the abilities of endurance and self-control are main factors leading to the low psychological state.
This study examines phrasal verbs consisting of “verb + preposition,” which are different in origin and development from “verb + adverbial particle.” All phrasal verbs have been extracted from the Oxford PHRASAL VERBS Dictionary for learners of English 2006. This study also discusses the properties of phrasal verbs consisting of “verb and preposition,” and proposes a new classification based on the origin of the verb (verbs of Germanic origin and verbs of French origin) and the number of syllables.
The aim of this study was to investigate the psychological competitive ability in National Institute of Technology, Toyota College (NIT) baseball player. To assess a psychological competitive ability, we used the Diagnostic Inventory of Psychological Competition Ability for Athletes (DIPCA.3) to compare between NIT baseball player and high-school (HS) elite baseball player. The DIPCA.3 was performed before the official high school baseball game tournament in summer. The total score of DIPCA.3 of NIT baseball players was significantly lower than that of HS elite baseball players. All factors (competitive motivation, mental state, confidence, strategy, cooperation) in NIT were lower than in HS. 11 subscales and 26 questions in NIT were lower than in HS. The present results indicate that the psychological competitive ability in NIT baseball player is lower than in HS elite baseball player.
