It is necessary to have a good sleep and to prevent the bed-sore for the mattress. We carried on the research by one's progress on the merits and demerits on the results.
In this study, the basic properties of the mattress made from nonwoven articles were evaluated in regard to the body pressure and microclimate in bedding compared with conventional mattress.
The results obtained are as follows.
1) The mattress made from nonwoven articles (F
1 and F
2) are better than the conventional mattress made from cotton/polyester or wool in regard to body pressure distribution in bedding and toturning over in bed, they receive the negative effect when using along with urethane mattress.
2) The temperature in bed reaches an ideal temperature in bed (33±1°C) most quickly after bedding-in, and can enter into an ideal range of relative humidity in bed (50±5% RH) in the case that using the mattress made from nonwoven articles.
3) The environmental temperature has direct effects upon the relative humidity in bed compared with the temperature in bed in this experimental range.
4) According to statements of an subject, his body is sunk and hard to turn over when uses mattress A, and has the bottom hitting feeling when uses mattress B, and the mattress made from nonwoven articles gives stiff feeling to him.
These results are obtained with only one subject, however, we want to mention that shoud be considered from a more general approach, since body pressure in bed is influenced considerably by one's physigue and also the range of enviornment conditions is limited.
