Etiological and taxonomical studies based on morphological characteristics of Cercosporoid fungus on the symptom of brown shot hole on Cerasus collected from all over Japan were carried out. Most of specimens were identified as Pseudocercospora prunicola. Its conidia overwinter on fallen leaves and are dispersed to newly developed leaves at early spring as first infectious source. Later, conidia on newly developed symptoms after rainy season are served as a secondary source of infection.
