Rocket pump inducers usually work in cryogenic fluids, wherein, it is predicted that inducers show better performance than that in water due to thermodynamic effect. However, most of the criteria on inducer designs are based upon analytical results and experiments in water, therefore, there is no assurance that inducer works properly in the cryogenic fluids. In the present study, cavitation shape and internal flow are compared through a numerical simulation between water and liquid nitrogen(LN
2),the latter is one of the representative cryogenic fluids. The present numerical simulation clearly shows that cavitation patterns between water and a cryogenic fluid are different due to thermodynamic effect, and the internal flow is affected by the cavity volume difference.
