We propose an approximation method that can calculate the Fresnel hologram fast. Since sampled hologram usually has small pixel intervals, the difference of the phase values between adjacent pixels is also small. Therefore, the phase value at certain pixel can be obtained from the next pixel with simple additions. We examine approximation errors of the method. The numerical results show that the method is quite effective.

We extracted three major factors that are identified as the important subjective symptoms when evaluating visual load associated with 3DTV display use.

OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation has excellent characteristic under multipath propagation. Therefore it is possible to construct a SFN(Single Frequency Network). Transmitting frequency is required a high level precision, because SFN is a kind of synchronous broadcasting network. The rate of a receiving bit error is varied by the frequency offset of the SFN transmitters. In the case of DQPSK-OFDM, the frequency difference between the transmitters should be limited to several percents of the carrier spacing to preserve its performance. As for 64QAM-OFDM, the allowable difference is roughly one tenth as small as the former.

Our new developed noise reducer which is named a dc-shift-NR, reduces noise by shifting a local signal level in accordance with the noise level, We have successfully developed the dc-shift-NR in a MUSE decoder, which detects the noise level caused by a transmission, using a known level in a vertical blanking area. The detection of a noise level in a real moving picture is a big problem in order to apply the dc-shift-NR for a real TV picture. We propose a new detection method of noise level in a real moving picture based on a statistical distribution test. The computer simulated experiments show good results, which open a possibility of the dc-shift-NR for a TV picture.

In this paper, we propose a system for composition of real images taken with a video camer and CG images. In general, we can consider that two problems arises when we try to generate high quality composite images. First problem is how exactly we acquire feature point's coordinate in images which are required to estimate geometrical relationship between real world and CG world. To deal with this problem, in a proposed system, we employ a method for acquisition of high resolution images which has been proposed earlier and acquire accurate coordinate of feature points with subpixel accuracy. Second problem is how easily we generate composite images with a video camera for home use. To this problem, we use a camera calibration method in which only four points on a plane surface are needed. At the end of this paper, we demonstrate that a composite image sequence which consists of 178 frames is successfully generated with a proposed method.

In image processing, there are many cases where closed contours are desired to be equidistantly sampled along the contours in Euclidean meaning. For example, the P-type descriptor, a Fourier domain expression of contours, assumes that the contours to be processed are equilateral polygons, i.e. equidistantly sampled. So far many researchers, however, has approximated "the equidistance" by "the equal number of pixels apart". In this paper the effect of the equidistant resampling is clarified by some experiments.
