We report the concept of CHSV (format Compatible High-Definition Still Video). CHSV is the technique how we can get high definition still pictures each of which is recorded on 4 tracks of 2" VF (Video Floppy) with compatibility to the SV format now in use. We adopt sample value analog transmission technique. We describe the pictures taken by the prototype CHSV camera (2-CCD) and the prospect of picture quality to be obtained by improving.

We developed CHSV (format Compatibie High definition Still Video) system which realizes high resolution picture (over 800TV-lines in H, V), and which requires unique digital signal processing methods on play-back mode. This paper describes two topics of those processing methods. The first one is waveform equalization which maintains correct transmittance of PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation) signal, the second one is adaptive interpolation which reduces the aliasing of offset sampled chroma-signal.

The home bus standard consists of the basic standard and the service standards which were instituted by the three industrial associations CIAJ, JEMA & EIAJ. An outline of the standard and the problems which must be solved when utilizing it is described. The outline and merits of home bus protocol controller ; the only such IC now on the market which was developed with a view to solving the above mentioned problems are presented. Finally future developments in the home bus standards are discussed.

A Visual Telephone Controller was developed as one terminal that is able to handle a home telephone function, a security and control function and a video communication function in a bundle, in HA system that consist of these functions. A feature of this terminal is to adopt a built-in color LCD and the Human Interface that combined pictures on the LCD and button operation. This paper reports on a number of experiments, the goal of which was to identify those special factors important to the reproduction of sound accompanying moving images, and to make improvements in the areas identified. Similalities and defferences in the cinema and reproduction in the home are reported. It informs the Home THX system which was developed for the precise reproduction of the cinema sound originaly produced at the dubbing-stage based on these experiments, the characteristics for THX system is informed such as the directivity for front and surround speakers, the utility of a center channel, the de-correlation technique of enveloping sound for surround channel, the timber maching between large cinema theater and home listening room, the timber maching for surround to front speaker etc.
