    This system, that helps for news gathering, display the area in whitch the microwave transmission is impossible in city by calculating the barrier of buildings. Transmission-possible aera is projected over the detailed city map on CRT display by use of "Electric Mapping System". This system has several merits. First. it can calculate the barrier aera in city perfectly, whitch has been predict ever. Secondly, it can find instantly a suitable transmission point in the valley of high buildings. Utilizing this system, we can catch the path of microwave transmission. more quickly and easily.

    The Technical Operation Center(TOC) production system of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation(NHK) Broadcasting Center was renewed and it began reguler operation in July 1990. The large scale switching and distribution system was developed under a new concept involving fully digitalized system for the main lines and use of a local area network(LAN).

    Mainichi Broadcasting System pioneered Japanese commercial radio broadcasting in 1951. In commemoration of its 40th anniversary, the construction of the new headquarters was completed recently in Osaka. In order to achieve higher reliability of transmission, the TV master control system was digitalized. In the video system, the main switching equipment remains analog while signals coming out of the main switching equipment have been digitalized. In this way, cost saving performance has been attained. The audio system on the other hand is fully digitalized. Digital audio signals are directly supplied from the D2-VTR to this system. The digitalized TV master control system has the following features. (1) The characteristics of video and audio signals do not degrade easily. (2) As the full dual system is introduced, abnormality in the system in use can be automatically checked by the back-up system and the back-up system automatically activated, if necessary. (3) The self-diagnosis function makes the maintenance very easy.

    We developed new automatic TV news programing system to broadcast TV news promptly and accurately without failure caused by equipment troubles and manual mistakes. In this system we introduce a touch-panel data entry system into computor and a "News Item Assignment Board System". Even if program order of the news item are changed suddenly, by only changing the order of the News Item Assignment Boards on the console, the broadcast sources and data blocks of computor change automatically following the re-arranged order of the Boards.

    Recent tv production switcher has been too much sophisticated and has many functions that an operator can not make good use of it for tv live programs. Mainichi Broadcasting Production Engineering has developed an easy-operation production switcher which has a small number of buttons but full equipped with a pre-selecter of inputs and a touch-panel function with 150 events memories for complecated video effect operations.
