We have recentry proposed a very high resolution image acqisition scheme using multiple cameras. However, this scheme adapt only for the object being on a same plate. So, in this paper, we proposed two improvement methods. The one of the method improves SNR instead of resolution. And the other's improves resolution integrating various resolution images. In these two methods, SNR improvement and resolution improvement have nothing to do with object shape and arrangement of cameras, so these two methods enable multiple camera imaging for various objects.

This paper discusses automatic cut detecting methods. Automatic cut detection is a basis for video handling. First, a general idea of cut detection algorithm is shown. Then several proposed methods were discussed in detail. Finally we compared performances of these method. As a result, we found that they show good performance with little difference among them when their algorithm parameters are wel adjusted. We also suggest general problems on the cut detection and countermeasures for them.

NHK Tokyo recently renewed its core facilities to a total digital system for both program production and transmission. For transmitting digital video signals, we newly made use of "Parallel processing 10B1C" serial coding format. The advantages of this format are (i) stable transmission (ii) fast synchronization (iii) easy signal monitoring. For transmitting digital audio signals. AES/EBU audio coding format is used. The digitization of broadcasting facilities brings on high reliability, streamlined operation and labor savings.

Formerly we proposed prebuffering-control-based adaptive DPCM coding which extracted statistics of component TV signals from only eight lines in the current field. This paper describes three kinds of new rate control methods, all of which extract statistics from TV signals in one field. The first and the second ones conduct the rate control in every field and in every eight lines respectively by utilizing TV signals in the whole current field. On the other hand, the third one conducts the rate control in every eight lines by utilizing not only the current field but the next field. Simulation results confirm us that the third one has superiority over the others in SNR and degree of accordance between the average coding rate and the designated coding rate, especially in the case of scene changes.

An arithmetic coding have been given a great notice for the reason of that is adopted as an entropy coding part of the international standardization method for natural lmage compression by CCITT/ISO. This entropy coding method, however, has little endurance for transmission error, so that the error detection or correction are needed in the transmission through low quality line. It has been usually needed a specialized process for error detection of arithmetic code. This paper describes a new error detection method of the arithmetic coding. In the proposed scheme, virtual data ale concatenated at the end of the last pixel of each line and they are consecutively encoded,so that the transmission errors are detected at the receiver without special process.
