    The value of multimedia services, demand have been widely discussed, and this is an indication of its future importance. However, the health of the video-software distribution business does not at the moment show a need for video on demand. But, multimedia development such as CD-ROM, CD-Video, and TV games are rapidly growing and multi media communications technologies such as video servers, ATM switches, and optical fiber transmission are developing rapidly. These facts already suggest that video on demand will be indispensable in the future. It is important that we demonstrate promising examples of video on demand services as soon as possible.

    This article describes an outline of the fundamental requirements for a stereoscopic television system based on human vision. The viewing condition for stereoscopic images, the tolerance of difference between two images corresponding to right and left images, the error in reconstructing on stereoscopic images from multi-viewing stereoscopic images, and the display limitations of stereoscopic images based on binocular fusion characteristics are briefly explained.

    A Prototype of portable foldable-display system (FDS) has been developed. By applying the FDS to an interactive English/Japanese interpreter, we demonstrate its potential as a face-to-face communicator. In the application, sentence data are implemented through analyzing ordinary conversation, which ale classified and stored according to the scenes.

    Home application have had many function, so their operation has unavoidably become very complicated. Method to simplify their operation have been proposed, for example GUI menu, but these have proven insufficient. This paper describes three points. One is a user Interface Model for easy operation of home appliances added to a display, for example a television. The next is a script for guide menu based on the Interface model. And the last is a developing environment for the script.
