Depolarization properties of layered chiral media, which are composed of nonreciprocal or reciprocal chiral layers, are presented. Noting that the electromagnetic field inside a chiral layer is expressed as a sum of left- and right-circularly polarized plane waves, one may obtain the e1ectric field components of the reflected and transmitted waves. The cross-and co-polarized powers and the Stokes parameters of the reflected and transmitted waves are computed for the incident plane wave of perpendicular polarization. Numerical results demonstrate novel depolarization properties of the layered chiral media with application to the design of efficient polarization transformation filters active at the optical, millimeter wave, and microwave regions.

Conventional ferrite material have had basically only one matching frequency region determined by their thickness and material properties. So we propose a new method making use of magnetized combination ferrite absorber for the purpose of establishment of making broadly the matching frequency change. Then using this method, characteristics of matching frequency can be changed broadly.

We proposed a new type EM wave aborber which construct a chiral medium mixed with a ferrite material. And it is clarified that chiral absorber make the matching frequency chang, if it composed a structur of multi-layered.

This paper describes the application of conductive resin to such a component as an optical connector, which attaches to the board through the aperture on the enclosure. The experiment results show that a piece of conductive resin with carbon or ferrite filler improves the shielding effectiveness up to 40 dB in the range from 700 to 800MHz. This property has been confirmed by the numerical analysis using the finite element method. The optical connector model made of conductive rein has also revealed the shielding effectiveness of up to 4dB.

The are many studies about biological effects by electromagnetic Waves. But there are quite few reports about protections of human bodies from the EM waves. Especially for reserchers who treat strong EM waves, the direct protections of their bodies exposed by the EM waves should be discussed. We proposed a protection method by a perfect conducting shield and calculated reduction effects of SAR in a cylindrical human model in former paper. In this paper, a semicircular arc shield made of lossy dielectric is applied to reduce the SAR in the human model. The SAR in the human model and scattering patterns from the shield and the human model are calculated. The results of the calculations show the SAR and the scattering patterns are affected by complex permitivity and thickness of the shield and position of the human model.

The performance of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) to collect moderately high resistivity flyash has been tested under pulse energization using the semi-pilot scale Integrated Electrostatics Combustion Flue Gas (IECFG) cleaning system. The pulse energization enhanced the performance of the existing dc energized wire-plate electrostatic precipitator in collecting moderately high resistivity (p〜10^<10> Ω-cm) fiyash. A 26% improvement in particle collection efficiency and 30% energy saving were obtained with pulse energization, with moderately high resistivity flyash. An enhancement factor of 2.6 was obtained with dust loading〜2 g/m^3.

In recent years, various subsurface radars have been investigated. The requirement for subsurface radar is the ability of high resolution and the detection of deep objects in underground. Therefore, the radar must use high power with wide-band spectrum. However, the wave radiated from the radar does not necessarily penetrate into underground, resulting is undesired radiation into the free space. In order to detect deep objects and reduce undesired radiation to free space, this report discusses the position and structure of horn antenna based on the FD-TD method.

This paper describes some experimental results on the effect of an optical cable tension member on radiated emission from equipment. The results show a remarkable increase up to 20 dB in radiated emission by electromagnetic coupling between an electrical cable and a steel wire in optical cable, and an optical cable can be a cause to exceed the regulation level. The crosstalk theory is shown to be effective to analyze the dependency of the increase in emission on the cabling conditions. It also describes the necessity of a nonmetallic optical cable as a radical countermeasure.

The occurrence phenomenon of showering noise is scarce about the reproducibility and the reason of various showering noise waveforms occurrence isn't sufficiently made clear. This report clarifies the relay contact movement theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that the discharge (arc discharge and glow discharge) which occurs between contacts influence the contact movement. Also, it is understood that the relation between the occurrence condition of the discharge and the contact movement concerns the occurrence of showering noise mainly.

This papers presents a new type 100W MF transmitter using digitally controled carrier phase shifting which can produce AM waves directly from digitalized audio signals. The transmitter is composed of five witching-type RF power amplifiers with a maximum peak output power of 330W, a 12 bits A/D converter, a ROM for waveform compensation, and carrier phase shifter/selecter. The transmitter displays high overall efficiency of 67% (RF output/DC input), SN ratio of 68dB or better, and about 0.9 % total harmonic distortion at 80% modulation.

We developed a video monitoring system to observe multiple points, which is suitable for short term use. We improved the portability and simplicity of setting. The optical passive network and the small-and-light terminal equipment realized the system easy to set up. The atmospheric optical transmission method was studied for the more flexible decision of monitoring points. The beam from 1.48 μm high power laser diodes was spread without reduction of optical power density. As the result the spread angle of the beam was expanded four times larger and the optical axial alignment could be finished within one minute for an atmospheric transmission distance of 100 meters.

The extent of a rectangular conducting plane for measuring electromagnetic interference is discussed. When mutual coupling between the transmit and receive antennas is negligible, the effects of the edges of the ground plane on the normalized site attenuation (NSA) are considered by applying GTD. The calculation was done for the case that measuring distance (d) was 3m or 10m, and for both horizontal and vertical polarizations. As the result, the size of the rectanglar ground plane (√<3>d×2d), in conformity to the CISPR standards, almost never affects upon NSA for horizontal polarization, but for vertical case, when both width and length of the rectangular plane are several times as long as d, the effects of the edges are reduced under 1dB.
