Papers on LCD technology, including reflective LCDs and ferroelectric LCDs, are reviewed. (Session 5,9,13,28 ) The number of papers on reflective LCD is 8. Papers concerning reflective color LCD, especially full-color LCD, increase in number and various LCD modes have been evaluated. The number of papers on ferroelectric LCD is 4 and LCD modes which can display gray scale driven by active matrix method have been developed.

At SID'96,the CRT sessions had 17 papers including 2 invited papers, larger number compared to that of the last SID'95. As before, the majority is the papers from Japan. However, papers from other Asian country is growing in the quantity, and also the quality. New CRT systems like 41 cm pure-flat CRT were introduced as well as the basic technologies like electron gun. The main topics of the electron gun are dynamic focus technique to improve the resolution at the screen periphery and the impregnated cathode.
