Using the concept of "connection" which deals with either "necessary" or "non necessary"linkage between two or more different events described in words, phrases, clauses and sentences, I analyze an article from The Guardian which describes Abe's attendance at" the memorial service marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the battle of Okinawa." The analysis reveals that the main theme of the article is criticism of Prime Minister Abe for trying to pass security related bills with an attempt to reinterpret the pacifist constitution and for the heavy military burden that Okinawa has been bearing and its relation to the current controversy over relocating an airbase in a densely populated city to the coast. The author uses various means to attach evil images to Abe, such as war related words put around Abe. The topic about "sex slaves or comfort women" is connected to the end of the article on the memorial service in Okinawa. If we take a viewpoint that the service has nothing to do with "sex slaves or comfort women," the linkage can be thought as"non necessary" linkage.
